It's tuned specifically for high-risk platforms like Temu, Shein, AliExpress, DHgate, Wish, Banggood, and TikTok Shop, and also works on secondary marketplaces like eBay, Vinted, Depop, and Etsy where fakes mix with genuine items.

How does the risk score work? +

tatGuard analyses three separate risk signals — counterfeit risk, safety risk, and quality risk — and combines them into an overall score from 1 to 10. 1 means significant risk signals detected across multiple dimensions. 10 means the product appears clean based on available public data. Scores are probabilistic assessments, not definitive verdicts.

What data does tatGuard collect? +

tatGuard automatically analyses product pages as you browse — when you land on a supported product listing, it scans in the background and displays a risk score. It does not read other browser tabs, track your activity across sites, or build profiles. Product page data is processed transiently and deleted after analysis. We never sell your data. Can tatGuard guarantee a product is genuine? +

No. tatGuard is a consumer guidance tool, not an authentication service. It analyses publicly available data and provides risk indicators to help inform your purchasing decision. It is not a product testing laboratory, and its assessments should not be treated as definitive authenticity verdicts. Always apply your own judgement.

What if tatGuard flags something incorrectly? +

Use the "Report incorrect analysis" link inside the tatGuard panel to flag it. We review all reports and update our methodology where appropriate. Brands and sellers who believe an assessment is unfair can contact us at hello@cosmolabs.co.uk with supporting evidence.

Does tatGuard work on mobile? +

tatGuard is currently a Chrome browser extension — it works on desktop Chrome, Brave, and Edge. Mobile browser extensions are not currently supported by Chrome on iOS or Android. A mobile version may follow in a future update.
