Privacy policy
The short version. The Highlander has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Your game is saved on your iPhone. We do not collect personal data through the app.
Who we are
The Highlander is made by CosmoLabs Ltd, registered in Scotland (company number SC883326). We are the controller for any personal data described here. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ZC111592). Contact: hello@cosmolabs.co.uk.
What stays on your phone
- Your saved game, progress and settings.
- The player name and clan name you choose.
This information is not sent to us. If you delete the app or use the Delete Save Data option, it is erased.
What leaves your phone
- Purchases. If you buy Gold, the payment is handled entirely by Apple. We do not see your payment details. We receive no personal data from Apple about you, and the game keeps a record of the purchase on your device so that your Gold is delivered correctly.
- Game Center (optional). If you sign in to Game Center, the game sends your achievements and leaderboard scores to Apple. Apple's privacy policy covers that. You can play without Game Center.
- Clock check. To keep timers fair, the game occasionally sends a simple request to our website (cosmolabs.co.uk) and reads the date from the reply. The request contains no personal data or identifiers from the app. Our hosting provider, Netlify, may keep standard server logs, which can include your IP address, for security and operation of the service.
- Emails to us. If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you tell us, and we use it only to help you.
What we do not do
No accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. The app's privacy label on the App Store says Data Not Collected.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, they are local reminders created on your phone. No notification service of ours is involved and nothing is sent to us.
Legal basis
Where we handle personal data (support emails and standard server logs), we do so because it is needed to answer you and to run and secure our website, which are our legitimate interests, or to perform our contract with you.
Transfers and retention
Server logs are held by Netlify, which may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you write again.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, delete or restrict the personal data we hold about you, to object to our use of it, and to ask for a copy. Email hello@cosmolabs.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
The Highlander is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The game contains fantasy and historical violence, shown in a non-graphic way.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. If the changes are significant we will say so on the game's page.
